Oppenhoff & Partner expands its counselling in the area of naval armaments with experienced defence expert Christian Fischer

The law firm of Oppenhoff & Partner is strengthening its Hamburg office with the lawyer Christian Fischer as of 1 January 2019.

Christian Fischer (65) will be joining as Of Counsel and increasing the firm’s expertise in the field of Aerospace & Defence. He will be advising on military procurements, in particular in the areas marines, export projects, international armament cooperations, solutions for German exporters in respect of the German War Weapons Control Act (KWKG) and Foreign Trade Act (AWG) as well as on compliance aspects. Oppenhoff’s Aerospace & Defence department can boast the renowned lawyers Michael Abels, Dr. Marc Hilber, Stephan Müller, Professor Dr. Heiko Höfler, Dr. Daniel Dohrn, Holger Hofmann and Dr. Robert Glawe.

Herr Fischer blickt auf eine langjährige Laufbahn im Bundesministerium für Verteidigung zurück, wo er seit 2008 als Ministerialdirigent und bis zu seinem Ruhestand unter anderem als Chef der deutschen Marineausrüstung die Unterabteilung „Ausrüstung See“ leitete sowie zudem Sonderbeauftragter des BMVg für die Verwertung von Wehrmaterial war.

Mr. Fischer looks back on a long career at the German Ministry of Defence, where he was a director (Ministerialdirigent) since 2008 and, until his retirement, amongst other things as head of German Naval Armaments, headed the “Armaments/Sea” subdivision, in addition to being special envoy of the German MOD for the utilisation of defence material.
