Oppenhoff advises Wilms Group on sale of Südkabel

Oppenhoff has advised the Wilms Group on the sale of a majority holding in Südkabel GmbH to Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. The transaction is subject to clearance from the relevant antitrust authorities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. NAUST HUNECKE advised the Wilms Group together with Oppenhoff on tax matters.

The Wilms Group, based in Menden, was founded in the 1970s and comprises more than 50 companies. It specialises in cable manufacturing, mechanical and plant engineering, water and wastewater treatment, recycling and surface technology.

Founded in 1898 and based in Mannheim, Südkabel GmbH is a renowned manufacturer of high-voltage cables and cable accessories and also installs and assembles them. The high-voltage cables are of crucial importance for electricity transmission infrastructure and are used in particular to transport electricity generated from renewable energy sources in the North Sea to Germany.
