Oppenhoff advises German Association of the Automotive Industry on the implementation of a sustainability standard for the automotive industry
Oppenhoff has advised the German Association of the Automotive Industry e.V. (Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V. - VDA) on the foundation of the Responsible Supply Chain Initiative (RSCI) e.V. Together with manufacturers, suppliers and other associations, the VDA is developing a voluntary, standardised testing mechanism to evaluate the sustainability performance of companies in automotive supply chains. The aim is to support all players in the automotive sector in establishing a high level of sustainability in the supply chains. In the course of the international orientation of the sustainability programme, the 15 founding members decided to establish an independent association under the umbrella of the VDA: the RSCI is the result of these efforts. The association will provide appropriate tools and offer concrete support.
Besides the VDA, further founding members of the RSCI are the automobile manufacturers Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, MAN, Porsche and Volkswagen, as well as the automotive suppliers Brose, Kirchhoff, MAGNA, Robert Bosch and Schaeffler. Membership of the RSCI is fundamentally open to any interested company wishing to contribute to the implementation and further development of sustainability standards in the automotive industry. Initial support has already been received from Drive Sustainability and CLEPA.
The Oppenhoff team, led by Dr. Daniel Dohrn (Antitrust), comprised Dr. Axel Wenzel, David Falkowski, Dr. Philipp Heinrichs (all Corporate), Dr. Angela Busche, Dr. Jürgen Hartung (both Data Protection, Commercial), Georg Lecheler (IP), Patrick Vapore (Antitrust) and Elmar Krüsmann (Tax).
The automotive sector group at Oppenhoff regularly advises leading companies and associations in the automotive industry.
