Oppenhoff advises on sale of RHODIUS Abrasives to Indian CUMI Group
Oppenhoff has advised RHODIUS Group on the carve-out and sale of its abrasive tools division to the Indian CUMI Group. With the strategic integration into the CUMI Group, RHODIUS Schleifwerkzeuge is expanding its ongoing growth strategy at its Burgbrohl site.
RHODIUS Schleifwerkzeuge, based in Burgbrohl and with sites in further eight countries in Europe and worldwide, is a globally active producer of premium grinding wheels. With over 300 employees, it generated sales of about EUR 62.5 million in 2021. Its tools for metal- and stone-working are used in over 100 countries throughout the world.
The RHODIUS Group, which has been family-owned for eight generations, has around 600 employees and, in addition to its abrasive tools division, consists of the Rhodius mineral springs and beverages division and the group administration.
CUMI, based in Chennai, India, is a listed, leading supplier of technical solutions in the fields of abrasives, electro-minerals, refractories and ceramics, among others. The enterprise employs more than 5,000 people worldwide. CUMI is part of the Murugappa Group, which generated sales of almost EUR 4.9 billion in 2021.
