Oppenhoff advises ÖBB on acquisition of Go-Ahead Germany
Oppenhoff has advised ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG on the acquisition of Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH and all of its German subsidiaries from the British Go-Ahead Group. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the competition antitrust authorities and is expected to be closed before the yearend. With the acquisition ÖBB is continuing its internationalisation process.
ÖBB, with around 42,600 employees, is a mobility and logistics service provider in Austria, the leading provider of night trains in Europe and the second strongest freight railway in the EU - active in 18 countries. ÖBB is part of the Austrian Federal Railways Group and transports around 1.2 million passengers a day.
Go-Ahead Deutschland is a rail transport company with 1,000 employees. With its two operating companies in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, it is an important player in Germany’s local rail passenger transport market. With a total of 144 modern electric multiple unit trains, it operates regional train services on behalf of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the Bavarian railway company.
