Oppenhoff advises Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) in dispute with Rheinmetall

Oppenhoff has advised and represented its long-standing client KMW in a dispute concerning statements made by Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall AG. The high-profile proceedings before the Munich I Regional Court concerned how certain statements made by Papperger in an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung on 15 March 2023 were to be understood. The dispute could be settled by a press release coordinated with KMW and published by Rheinmetall to clarify the situation.

“This makes it sufficiently clear that KMW's role as a systems house and manufacturer of the Leopard 2 is not in question. Anyone who wants to buy a new Leopard 2 can't circumvent KMW", says Oppenhoff partner Michael Abels, head of the defence and aerospace division.
