Further reinforcement in Hamburg: Oppenhoff recruits Dr. Carmen Schneider for energy law
Oppenhoff is strengthening its position in Hamburg: energy lawyer Dr. Carmen Schneider is transferring to HafenCity from Chatham Partners.
Carmen Schneider advises energy suppliers, grid operators, investors, project developers, energy service providers and electricity cost-intensive companies on energy law. With a focus on project developments (in particular onshore and offshore wind, solar and distributed generation models), she specialises in energy contracting and energy regulation law as well as energy trading. Carmen Schneider also advises on M&A transactions in the energy sector and represents her clients in (arbitration) court proceedings.
Myriam Baars-Schilling, the firm’s chairwoman, commented: "We are very pleased to be strengthening our Hamburg office with Carmen Schneider. With her outstanding networking in the energy industry and her diverse client relationships, she is an ideal addition to our energy sector, which plays an increasingly important role for Hamburg in particular."
Carmen Schneider: "I am very much looking forward to joining Oppenhoff. The team convinced me with their ambitious plans and a very collegial atmosphere. We have many plans for further developing the Hamburg office."
Carmen Schneider studied law at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen and at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University in Bonn. She completed her doctorate on an energy law topic at the Institute for Mining and Energy Law at the Ruhr University in Bochum. Before joining Oppenhoff, she was, inter alia, a partner at Chatham Partners and an associate partner at GÖRG.
A team specialising in the energy sector advises domestic and foreign energy suppliers, grid operators, municipalities, investors and project companies in all areas of the energy industry. Recent clients include AustriaEnergy on a large-scale power-to-X project with CIP for green hydrogen and green ammonia in Chile and EnBW and RheinEnergie on the sale of their MVV shares to First State Investments.
Most recently, Oppenhoff’s presence in Hamburg was strengthened through the addition of partner Dr. Sebastian Zeeck; antitrust partner Dr. Simon Spangler is also present in the Hanseatic city. There are already concrete plans for the further expansion of the Hamburg office.
