Change of management at Oppenhoff: Myriam Baars-Schilling becomes the firm’s chairwomen, Jürgen Hartung a new management member

Myriam Baars-Schilling is the new chairwomen of the law firm Oppenhoff. The 43-year-old lawyer will lead the four-member Executive Board in the future. The Oppenhoff partners also elected Dr. Jürgen Hartung as a new member of the management. Among other things, the 51-year-old IT lawyer is going to drive forward the firm’s digitisation.

Myriam Baars-Schilling joined Oppenhoff's management in 2017. She advises clients such as Deutsche Post, Siemens and Saint-Gobain on M&A transactions and joint ventures. “I am very pleased that our partners have put their trust in me. Together, we will further strengthen our position as a leading independent law firm in Germany."

Baars-Schilling succeeds Dr. Gilbert Wurth, who decided to hand over the baton after two terms in management, one of which as the firm's chairman. "Gilbert has done great service to the firm. We are grateful that he stayed on board at our request during a challenging year with important directional decisions."

"Under his leadership, we have completed the generation change, restructured our corporate governance, successfully built up the Frankfurt office and opened the Hamburg office." The further strategic expansion of these offices will be driven forward by the management together with the Hamburg and Frankfurt partners, Baars-Schilling announced.

The Oppenhoff partners also elected Dr. Jürgen Hartung to the Executive Board. Hartung is one of Germany’s leading IT and data protection lawyers. His clients include Sony, Bergfreunde.de and the Big Four auditing firms. He has particular expertise in the increasingly important areas concerning digitisation: "We have embarked on a path into the digital future and will continue to pursue it consistently, both internally and externally, with attractive offers for our clients."
