Expansion in Hamburg: Dr. Angela Busche strengthens Oppenhoff & Partner’s IT and data protection law practice group

The independent German commercial law firm Oppenhoff & Partner is expanding further in Hamburg. The law firm’s Hamburg office is gaining Dr. Angela Busche as a partner of its IT and data protection law practice group and is now also ideally positioned to advise on digitalisation projects in particular in Hamburg.

Dr. Angela Busche will be joining the firm as a new partner on 1 October 2018. Angela Busche began her career in IT and data protection law as a lawyer at Oppenhoff & Partner in 2008, before transferring to the group headquarters of thyssenkrupp AG in Essen in 2012. She initially worked there for several years as senior legal counsel in the field of data protection (inter alia in connection with the group-wide IT consolidation and antitrust compliance measures). She subsequently assumed the responsibility for a global project to optimise the group leadership, management and control (governance), which extended over several years. In the Automotive Industry Association [Verband der Automobilindustrie, VDA] she was involved in developing the data protection principles for networked vehicles.

With Angela Busche, Oppenhoff & Partner is now strengthening its IT and data protection practice currently comprising the two partners Dr. Marc Hilber and Dr. Jürgen Hartung (both in Cologne) in Hamburg. Dr. Marc Hilber stated: “We are delighted to have Angela Busche back. With her experience as a proven data privacy expert and her knowledge gained over many years of experience as in-house counsel, she will be able to meet the demands of large industrial enterprises in many respects.“ Dr. Jürgen Hartung commented: “Angela Busche will primarily advise on the area of digitalisation for industrial enterprises, in particular on networked vehicles. She knows our firm well and will substantially contribute to the growth and integration of the Hamburg office.”

To date, with around 70 lawyers located in offices in Cologne, Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg, Oppenhoff & Partner advises clients on all important areas of commercial and tax law, such as employment law, banking and capital markets law, state aid and antitrust, compliance, corporate law/M&A, intellectual property rights, real estate, IT and data protection, export controls, litigation, tax and corporate succession.

The law firm recently welcomed to its Hamburg office a team led by Professor Dr. Heiko Höfler, a leading expert in public law/regulatory matters. The Frankfurt office has also gained the new partners Dr. Gabriele Fontane, Anja Dombrowsky, Dr. Markus Rasner and Till Liebau to expand the advisory services offered in the areas of private equity, employment law, corporate law and M&A.
