Deutsche Post AG hands over SIMSme to Brabbler
Deutsche Post AG has concluded a binding agreement with the Munich based enterprise Brabbler Secure Message and Data Exchange Aktiengesellschaft on the acquisition of the messenger SIMSme by Brabbler. SIMSme is an internet-based, cross-platform instant-messaging service with secure end-to-end-encryption. In return, Deutsche Post AG receives shares from Brabbler, enabling it to continue its participation in the positive development of SIMSme.

GDPR – What happened so far
Following a short break, we would now like to present you with our latest ITC Newsletter. The primary reason for this break was the many cases we have been dealing with on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have all survived the introduction of the GDPR on 25 May 2018 and the world did not stop turning (does anyone remember the Y2K problem?). However, several things have indeed changed; data protection is being taken seriously at all levels. We therefore decided to use our first Newsletter in 2019 to inform you about the various developments connected with the GDPR. By the way, we will be back next week with a newsflash explaining the decision by the German Federal Competition Authority [Bundeskartellamt] against Facebook to “internally unbundle” various data sets.

Oppenhoff & Partner advises SnowWorld on its market launch in Germany with the acquisition of shares in Alpenpark Neuss
Oppenhoff & Partner has advised SnowWorld, the listed Dutch operator of indoor skiing areas, on the acquisition of 25 percent of the shares in Alpenpark Neuss. Additionally, SnowWorld has been given the option of expanding this cooperation in the medium term to a majority holding.
