Dr. Matthias Klefisch

Experience

Matthias Klefisch advises on insolvency law and restructuring. One focus of his work is providing comprehensive advice to creditors during and outside of complex and international insolvency proceedings. In addition, Matthias Klefisch regularly advises on the pursuit or defence of claims arising from director's liability and insolvency avoidance. He frequently assists on the seller and investor side in challenging and time-critical M&A processes in a crisis (distressed M&A). Furthermore, Matthias Klefisch advises debtor companies in (preliminary) insolvency and self-administration proceedings. He is also a certified restructuring and reorganisation expert.

 

Education

Matthias Klefisch has been a lawyer at Oppenhoff since 2022. After studying law at the University of Trier with a focus on insolvency and company law, he graduated to Dr. jur. at the University of Trier. During his legal internship Matthias Klefisch worked at, among others, the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFIN) on the restructuring and winding-up of credit institutes, and at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Düsseldorf in the corporate law/M&A department.
