Jan Keesen

Experience

Jan Keesen assists national and international corporations on a wide range of tax issues. He regularly advises on tax implications of M&A transactions and corporate restructuring. Also, he represents clients in tax dispute resolution.

Within Oppenhoff’s Succession, Wealth and Foundations practice group, Jan Keesen advises high-net-worth individuals, family-run companies, family offices as well as non-profit and private foundations on tax planning issues, with special focus on business succession and wealth transfer.

Education

Jan Keesen has worked at Oppenhoff since 2024. He is a German qualified lawyer and member of the Cologne Bar Association. He holds a law degree as well as a graduate degree in business from EBS University Wiesbaden. During his studies, he spent an exchange semester at Queen's University, Kingston (Ontario). Before joining Oppenhoff, he worked as Doctoral Researcher at EBS University, where he wrote his PhD thesis under supervision of Professor Emanuel V. Towfigh in the field of constitutional law. He also held the position of Visiting Doctoral Researcher at NYU School of Law (New York City). Before and during his legal clerkship, he worked as Research Assistant and Legal Trainee at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in their Private Client/Family Business practice group.
